Emilia Clarke Finally Knows Who Was Responsible For That Coffee Cup On “Game Of Thrones”

In case it’s been keeping you up at night, actress Emilia Clarke has finally discovered who left the coffee cup on set during the final season of Game of Thrones.

During the episode “The Last of the Starks,” fans spotted the incongruous to-go coffee cup sitting on a banquet table in front of Clarke in character as Daenerys. It was the coffee cup that launched a bazillion words on how Game of Thrones had taken a dive in quality during the last season.

HBO later digitally removed the coffee cup from footage, but screenshots live forever. Still, Game of Thrones fans are pretty forgiving (oh wait, I meant the opposite). They also tried to get in on the humor with a tweet claiming that Daenerys prefers herbal tea to lattes.

Well Clarke, who stars in the upcoming romantic comedy Last Christmas, visited Jimmy Fallon on his show and reignited the controversy—by revealing who actually made the grievous error

“Conleth Hill—who plays Varys, who’s sitting next to me in that scene—he pulls me aside and he’s like, ‘Emilia, I gotta tell you something…The coffee cup is mine,'” Clarke told Fallon.

Hill also apologized because Clarke received a bulk of the flack over the months since the mistake occurred.

“It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup, he said so,” Clarke explained. “He’s like, ‘I think it was, I’m sorry darling, I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed the heat was very much on you.'”

“He might have been drunk, but he said it, so I’m gonna take that.”

So there you have it. The greatest mystery of Game of Thrones‘ final season is finally solved. Now, can someone please explain to me how Euron Greyjoy managed to be everywhere at once? I’m still wondering about that.
