Kristen Bell, who you likely know from The Good Place, and a variety of reaction GIFS, recently shared why she tells her children about their father’s addiction struggles.
No stranger to speaking her mind, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of her fans.
Her husband, Dax Shepard, who is sober with previous struggles with addiction, is open and honest about it with their children. The couple doesn’t shy away from the taboo subject with their young ones.
In a recent interview, Kristen explained, “I hate the word taboo, I think it should be stricken from the dictionary. There should be no topic that’s off the table for people to talk about.”

She continued:
“And I know it’s shocking, but I talk to my kids about drugs and the fact that their daddy is an addict and he’s in recovery, and we talk about sex. There are all these ‘hard topics’— don’t have to be, if you give the person on the other end your vulnerability and a little bit of credit.”
Dax has also been an open book in the media as well as on his podcast Armchair Expert. Including talking about his relapse with painkillers after 16 years of sobriety.
Bell and Shepard have been together and going strong since 2013. Likely in big part to how honest and open they are with each other and themselves.
