It’s no secret that 19-year-old Lil Nas X—#1 advocator of the Yee Haw Agenda via the record-breaking, chart-topping country-rap smash “Old Town Road”—likes his cowboy hats.
And why shouldn’t he? Certainly, the rapper’s Yee Haw aesthetic is just that—an aesthetic, one that goes hand-in-hand with the vibe of “Old Town Road.” Critics who give Lil Nas X crap for his Western vibe claim the look isn’t genuine or self-generated, but promotional and thus phony.
But honestly, who cares? Lil Nas X may or may not ditch his Western gear with his next big hit. First of all, he’s still a teenager. Second of all, he looks phenomenal. Third of all, what’s it to ya?
In the meantime, Lil Nas X has got something to say to haters spreading rumors that Columbia Records—with who he recently signed a major deal—forces him to wear cowboy garb to help promote his track:

“Nobody forcing me to wear cowboy hats,” Lil Nas X replied Thursday afternoon. “If u had a yee haw ass song go number 1 for weeks you would be wearing the sh*t too.”

Who dares argue Lil Nas’ point? Especially when he looks this damn good?
And no, we don’t yet know whether Lil Nas X has actually ridden a horse yet. (Though we do know he’s…sat on one.)
