Former adult film star Mia Khalifa, who shot to fame in 2014, had a brief yet influential stint in the industry, earning her a top spot among the world’s most-viewed stars. (Remember when Drake tried to slide into her DMs and she put him on blast?)
While she has since transitioned out of that phase, not everyone seems ready to allow her to evolve.
During a heart-to-heart with YouTube sensation Anthony Padilla, the 30-year-old recounted an emotional episode from her past.
“I was in London, in a business meeting celebrating a successful press tour with my new company’s leaders and my manager,” Khalifa shared. While immersed in the celebration, a man and his girlfriend approached her for a photo.
Considering the setting and her engagement in a meal, Mia declined. Although she believes she could’ve been gentler in her refusal, she felt the approach during her meal was “rude.”
However, what truly shook her was the girlfriend’s off-color remark. “I told you that wasn’t her. There’s not enough c*m on her face. Let’s go, babe,” she jested.
This disparaging comment, particularly coming from another woman during a professional setting, deeply affected Mia. “I was overwhelmed. I excused myself and shed tears in the restroom,” she confessed.
But, there’s always a silver lining. The professionals she was dining with, unrelated to the adult industry, stood by her, offering support and understanding, ensuring the incident didn’t sour their budding professional rapport.
On a separate note, Mia opened up about her personal life on Steven Bartlett’s Diary Of A CEO podcast. She disclosed that a toxic relationship in her late teens introduced her to the adult industry. Her then-spouse, an Army enlisted man, was the one who nudged her towards it. Today, she looks back at that phase as a time when she was “manipulated” and treated like a “plaything.”
Despite her brief involvement in the industry, it had lasting repercussions; her family severed ties with her.
Now, as she moves forward, she is grounded by the reality that “some past actions remain etched in memory.” Yet, Mia’s resilience and candor are a testament to her strength and personal growth.
