There’s a new Instagram account that has racked up the follows in its infancy. The Overheard Celebs Instagram account is a self-described “Anti-Gossip Journal” where people submit everyday stories about their run-ins with celebrities. Some posts are funny, some are inspiring and you won’t see any celebrity put-downs here. The content is spectacularly wholesome.
The account launched on Sept. 15, 2020 with the perfect celebrity account: Bill Murray.
Since then, Overheard Celebs has posted about Snoop Dogg, Harry Styles, Jimmy Kimmel and more of Hollywood’s A-list. below are examples of some of the posts over the past couple of months.
1. Bill Murray
“Bill Murray told an airport bartender my ID was fake.”
2. Lady Gaga and Celine Dion
“I got a chance to talk to Lady Gaga at the Grammys and asked if I could get a picture. She said yes and told me to find someone to take it, so I asked the person sitting behind us. I later realized Celine Dion took the pic.”
3. Amy Schumer
“I’m not a celeb but in 2015, I attended the Emmys. After walking the red carpet, my friends and I found ourselves alone with Amy Schumer and her publicist. I was so excited and said hello… at which point she grabbed her crotch and told me that her ‘dress was caught up in her pussy.'”
4. Matthew McConaughey
“My very first job in LA was as a set production assistant for a Stetson Hat commercial starring Matthew McConaughey. While shooting, he asked me to go to his infamous silver bullet trailer and get him a beer with ice out of his fridge because ‘I like to hydrate while I dehydrate.’ That was, to this day, the coolest thing any celebrity ever said to me.”
5. Channing Tatum
“My husband and I ran into Channing Tatum at the park with his daughter. He was super kind, chatting it up with my husband while our daughters were playing. Later on when standing next to him I finally had the realization of who he was and said ‘oh my god sorry, I didn’t recognize you with your clothes on.’ He smiled and replied, ‘I get that a lot.'”
6. Gary Busey
“Went to karaoke night at Cafe Habana in Malibu and as I was trying to leave the DJ booth where the song selection was, Gary Busey cornered me and said, ‘you will never sing Garth Brooks again’ and wouldn’t let me leave until I agreed.”
7. Dave Chappelle
“I met Dave Chappelle in an AT&T store back in 2004. I was like ‘holy shit you’re Dave Chappelle’ and he was like ‘holy shit you’re a random white dude’ and that was the end of that.”
8. Prince
“I helped Prince fix the CD player in his purple Maserati so that he could listen to a Christina Aguilera album.”
9. Miley Cyrus
“I was at a party in West Hollywood and bumped into Miley Cyrus while washing my hands in the bathroom. She was fixing her skirt and lifted it up to fix her underwear, inevitably showing her butt. She looked at me, laughed, and said, ‘what it’s not like you haven’t seen this before.’ It was everything.”
10. Tom Hanks
A number of years ago I left my iPhone unattended in the same room as Tom Hanks. The next day, I found this photo in my camera roll. To be clear: I’ve never met him. But I do believe he is exactly who we hope he is, and I don’t want to know if I’m wrong.
