Much has changed in the movie industry, even just within the past few decades.
Technology has advanced to unimaginable lengths, allowing for otherworldly special effects.
Sound mixing and music have revolutionized the way we experience a film. Not to mention, the elaborative costume design and prosthetics we see today are mind-blowing.
However, Hollywood still has a ways to go when it comes to equality on and off-screen. For example, women are continually underrepresented and incorrectly represented. The female character is often a stereotypical role that does not represent any real woman. Unfortunately, almost every rom-com is guilty of blatantly employing these types of outdated tropes.
In fact, this misrepresentation has become so comically apparent that women have taken to Tumblr to mercilessly mock Hollywood’s ignorance.
