Pepe Le Pew Got Left Out of Space Jam So People Canceled Other Cartoons

Times change, but some cartoon characters have been around for decades. They never age, so they become classics in ways that real people really can’t.

Their behavior, however, is not always “classic” so much as it is dated, inappropriate, racist, sexist, and whatever else it used to be okay to illustrate thousands of frames of for children.

The hashtag #CancelACartoonCharacter started trending on Twitter, and BuzzFeed reports that it was probably because news of Pepe Le Pew’s disappearance from the Space Jam reboot was circulating.

Mr. Le Pew was the poster boy for “no means yes” and his entire shtick was sexually pursuing female characters who loathed him. Not so acceptable now (in theory).

People started joking about what other cartoon characters should be “canceled” and listing the reasons why.

Some of them are pretty funny, but some of them really make you think: should this actually be on TV?! For kids?? Cancel them all!
