A lot of people on Facebook aren’t familiar with NFL great, Barry Sanders. When Garth Brooks donned a Sanders jersey during a performance in Detroit, fans thought he was endorsing presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Brooks posted an image of himself wearing the jersey with the caption: “Detroit/You carried me all night long/But you always have/I’m in love with you!/ love, g #GARTHinDETROIT”

Twitter user @jasonvincent posted screencaps of Brooks fans complaining about his choice of attire.
Facebook forgot who Barry Sanders is and is freaking out at Garth Brooks for wearing a jersey and I’m dying. pic.twitter.com/wVfAKU7Cn1

People tried explaining the jersey is not promoting BERNIE Sanders, rather BARRY Sanders. It didn’t go too well because someone said he was a famous Detroit Tigers player in the ’90s. (He played for the Detroit Lions, totally different sport.)
People are trying to help, but it seems others don’t like to research so much? pic.twitter.com/BddZIfj8ZL

Word got to Barry Sanders, so he posted a tweet asking Brooks if he wanted to be his VP.

So, just to make sure we’re all on the same page: Barry Sanders: retired football player. Bernie Sanders: 2020 presidential candidate.
