Earlier this month, Turkish fitness influencer and bodybuilder Deniz Saypinar, 26, was denied boarding an American Airlines flight from Texas to Miami, merely because of her attire.
What the heck was she wearing?!
According to the Daily Mail, she was simply wearing a pair of cutoff denim shorts and a brown crop top.
Saypinar shared the degrading moment with her one million Instagram followers. She vented via Instagram story, tearing up while explaining that airline employees told her she was ‘naked’ and ‘would offend other families.’
The athlete even purchased a t-shirt and was denied entry on multiple flights, forcing her to stay at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport all night long and wait for an early morning flight.
An American Airlines representative told the New York Post, “On July 8, American Airlines denied boarding for a customer traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth to Miami. As stated in the conditions of carriage, all customers must dress appropriately and offensive clothing isn’t permitted onboard our flights…. The customer was advised of our policy and was rebooked on a subsequent flight.”
Saypinar recently moved to the United States from Turkey with the hopes of avoiding a conservative, judgemental culture.
Notably, she is the first woman in Turkey to receive professional status from the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness.
