We all have some piece of pop culture or lifestyle thing we credit as the thing that changed us. We’re an easily influenced species, I guess.
The “thank you for changing my life” meme pokes fun at this tendency by pointing out that the things we’re obsessed with are usually just things.
According to Know Your Meme, the format was created by Twitter user @isitromantic in late November, using the Trad Girl figure staring at the cover of Taylor Swift’s album Folklore and saying, “Thank you for changing my life.”
The album answers, “I’m literally an album.”

The meme has taken off and is now being used to not only say what’s changed lives, but what’s ruining lives, like Twitter and our own brains. Those actually seem more true. Twitter is ruining my life. My own brain is helping by telling me to log on to Twitter.
And that’s how I found all these “thank you for changing my life” memes for you. Enjoy!
