Movie Theaters Are Closed But They’ve Still Got A Sense Of Humor (27 Pics)

The death of the movie theater has been foretold ever since the invention of VHS tapes but the moviegoing experience kept theaters alive even after the advent of the internet and home-streaming presented an even sterner challenge. Hover the current crisis has struck a killer blow like never before, forcing movie theaters around the country to—at least temporarily—shut their doors. 

There’s still one old-fashioned way for theaters to reach moviegoers, however, and that’s through the use of the good old marquee. Instead of advertising the current movies that are playing, movie theaters around the country have been using their marquees to send out movie-themed messages of hope to passersby.
