Talking about sex may be less taboo in many cultures now than it was even 50 or so years ago, but many of us grew up with horribly inadequate sex ed, classmates who exaggerated or made things up, and information about sex that was garnered almost exclusively through movies or, perhaps, porn.
In other words: nobody had a clue what to actually expect.
But now we have the internet, making it easier than ever for people to swap stories and either feel a little more prepared for that first encounter or learn that the things that took them by surprise when it happened are very likely experiences that other people had during their first times, as well.
Redditors are coming clean about those surprising moments or realizations from first encounters; here are some of the most relatable ones, and some of the strangest:
How quickly 30 seconds passes by.
Her cat jumped on my back during missionary and that really startled me.
vagina was lower than I expected.
That I was willing to do stuff in the heat of the moment I never thought I would do.
A big dick and “experience” don’t make a man good in the bedroom.
How connected I felt. Kinda scared me. Emotions are dangerous. Lol
Inability to find the hole and insert inside the vagina. I never thought that would be a challenge.
The confidence boost that it gave me. Left my girlfriends house all giddy, feeling like I could conquer the world.
How Girls are as into it as boys.. and the feeling of having to talk them into sex is something made up and taught to boys.
That I didn’t really feel any different as a person. I thought I’d feel more grown up. Now I was a just a teenager who had sex.
Growing up, the only thing Mom ever said about sex was: “You’re not going to like it.” So, I was surprised by how wrong she had been – it was great!
That I loved the physical contact, the cuddling, the kissing, the spooning, and the sleeping together(actually sleeping together I mean) a lot more than just the ‘sex.’
When I first touched a vagina, I couldn’t believe how warm and slippery it was. I don’t know why I was surprised about the warmth but it really caught me by surprise.
That I didn’t bleed. Being a female we were always told that the first time you had sex a vagina would bleed due to the breaking of a hymen, but that wasn’t my experience.
How I didn’t feel weird about being naked with someone else. When it was go time and the clothes came off it wasn’t even a moment of oh I’m naked and there’s a person… I found that surprising.
Everyone told me it would be super awkward and that it would only feel good after practice, but it was actually really sexy and felt great for both of us (so much so that I felt like I was in a movie).
Gay guy here: My first time trying anal, I discovered you can’t just put lube on a 9in dick and sit on it. I literally fell off the bed in excruciating pain. There’s alot more that goes into bottoming than porn suggests.
I remember about 4 minutes in she just stopped me and said “you know you don’t have to make eye contact the entire time, right?” Now that I’m more experienced I realize I must have seemed like a sociopath.
Girl was a couple of years ahead of me, experienced and aggressive. I was able to kind of keep up but there were positions (and maybe her aggressiveness) that hurt. Lost my hard-on twice but was able to bring it back. Never thought THAT could happen.
