A cruise ship employee was caught on camera filming a woman in the women’s restroom. The altercation was shared on TikTok by @Sajac4, who says she caught the male employee recording her in the bathroom.
In the TikTok, the video begins with the woman holding the camera up and talking to a male employee of the cruise line. She points to one of the bathroom stalls and tells him, “There’s someone hiding under there, filming. There’s someone hiding under there filming me.”
At first, the housekeeper is confused and asks the woman to explain, so she does: she tells him a man is crouched in a stall and is filming her. The male housekeeper knocks on said door and says “housekeeping”, but there is no answer.
Then a fellow female passenger knocks hard on the door and yanks on the door handle. She demands the person inside come out; after a few attempts like this, the man opens the door. He is red-faced and embarrassed. He says he’s a cruise employee and mumbles, “I was wrong”.
No kidding.
The woman filming and the victim of the man’s filming talk to another bystander. The victim says, “I just opened up the bathroom right now. I didn’t know, I just saw a camera pointing at me.” The bystander suggests trying to figure out this guy’s name, then the video cuts out.
The caption provides an even more harrowing context: “This man was in the women’s restroom located at the kids club. Please don’t leave your children unattended on any vacation & be aware of your surroundings at all times.”
The video quickly went viral with nearly 11 million views as of yesterday. Viewers were outraged with the cruise line, Meraviglia, and the accused employee.
“Sue the Cruise line ASAP. They are a billion-dollar corporation. They can afford it; and also learn a lesson to screen their employees,” wrote one user.
Another person noted, “There’s so many things wrong with the MSC cruise line, I will never book with them again. They went through our things and gaslit us.”
The original poster has since added an update to the original TikTok, noting that the employee was deported.
“I decided to post this video to bring awareness on leaving your children alone in any setting, especially while on vacation,” she said in her update. “I want all women to be aware of their surroundings at all times, vacations included. Stay vigilant & safe out there.”
