Bosses can be notoriously difficult when it comes to vacation time, especially around this time of the year.
That happened to TikToker @newmanparkerr, who had been planning a trip to Europe. Everything was booked, but then his boss nixed his vacation request.
So the annoyed worker didn’t get mad, he just quit. His video about it on TikTok went viral, garnering nearly a million views (scroll to the end for the full video).
In the video, Parker has a big grin underneath the words, “When my former job wouldn’t approve my request off so I quit and went on my trip anyways.”
In the caption, he wrote, “you get the chance to see europe, you don’t say no!”
Commenters were in full support.
Lots of other people have decided to do the same thing during the so-called “Great Resignation.”
Starting during the pandemic last year, job openings and people quitting hit historic highs, while layoffs fell to record lows.
Almost 48 million people quit their jobs in 2021, which was a record. And we saw that trend continue into 2022.
That has contributed to a red-hot job market, where job seekers are in the driver’s seat. Last month, the unemployment rate stood at 3.7 percent in the U.S. That’s almost a five-decade low.
And since workers are in demand, bosses should probably be a little more flexible about vacation time.
Here’s the video.
