Choosing the perfect username can be a daunting task, especially in today’s digital world where usernames are required for almost everything from social media accounts to online gaming profiles. Your username is essentially your online identity, and it can significantly impact how others perceive you. It can also determine whether you are easily searchable or forgettable.
Recently, Zach Leezer, a therapist on Tiktok had the sudden and unfortunate realization that his username was, let’s say, less than comforting. A commenter even asked them to change it.
If you haven’t noticed it yet, go ahead the separate the word therapist into two words, between the “e” and “r.” There you go. See? Kind of a problem.
“It has been brought to my attention recently that I have chosen a name for this account that can be easily misconstrued,” says Leezer.
“Now, did I ever once think to myself, ‘hmm, does this sound like something other than what I think it does?’ No. I never would have thought that people would read it that way, but I guess they are.”
“As a therapist, I talk to my clients all the time about making mistakes and how we should learn from them and we should laugh at them. So, here’s mine.”
