“Worst Apartment In New York City” Goes Viral On TikTok

There are a lot of contenders for Worst Apartment in New York City. Like, a lot a lot.

See, NYC is notorious for using building codes as mere suggestions, which is why many renters wind up in a 250×250 closet for $1800 a month.

After years of truly horrible New York apartment experiences, the internet has finally crowned a winner, all thanks to the TikTok account @newyorkcityrealtor

The account is run by a New York City realtor who takes viewers behind the scenes of some ridiculous real estate. Like what a $14,000-a-month apartment will get you in the city.

The biggest video to date, however, is of the worst apartment this realtor has ever seen. It received more than 20 million views and 2.6 million likes on TikTok.

We start in front of the apartment.

The door looks nice, nothing suspicious jumps out at us.

The door opens and we learn the apartment costs $1650 a month to rent. Not horrible at first glance.

So, what’s the catch?

The realtor walks to the window, turns the camera around and we instantly understand what the catch truly is: it’s that the apartment is horrible.

Enjoy cooking? Well too bad, because it’s nearly impossible to do so here.

But that’s only the beginning. The realtor made a separate video just for the bathroom.

Paying $1650 a month doesn’t even get you a private bathroom. No, it gets you a communal toilet with no sink and a shower across the way.

But to get there, you’ll need to first step foot outside your luxurious apartment.

And travel slightly down the hall into a room with one toilet and — we repeat — no sink.

After some nice relief, it’s time to get cleaned up! Step out of the W.C. and head over to the communal shower.

Yes, the entire complex. I HEART NYC!!
