This Is What Baby X-Rays Look Like, So Naturally Twitter’s Got Jokes

For those unaware, small children have to take X-rays a little differently than the rest of us.

The children are placed inside of a machine called a Pigg-O-Stat, which keeps them still while they are given an X-ray.

“The Pigg-O-Stat is an all-in-one pediatric immobilization device designed for positioning infants and young children for an appropriate x-ray without significant complications,” reads the product’s website.

Images of children squished inside of the Pigg-O-Stat have gone viral in the past, and are doing so again. A tweet shared by @mowzii  a couple of weeks ago has racked up over 426,000 likes and 147,000 comments—many from folks who couldn’t help but laugh at the photos.

The jokes rolled in swiftly.

Of course, the device serves a purpose: As one X-ray mom tech explains, it keeps the baby still while they necessarily cry in order fo their lungs to expand. “It doesn’t hurt them. It just makes them mad.”

Some parents even shared photos and tales of their own little ones inside of the machines:

Though, naturally, the majority of comments were Augustus Gloop references:

However you feel about making jokes about X-ray babies, you must agree the resemblance is…striking.
