Former Miss Finland has clapped back at a restaurant after she was kicked out over an “inappropriate” outfit.
Erika Helin, who won Miss Finland back in 2018, was in Helsinki earlier this month. There, as she enjoyed her night out, a security guard approached her.
Erika was wearing a pink heart-print bralette and a mini skirt with high heels (not that this matters).
Erika claimed on Instagram that despite being allowed into the bar, she was asked to leave later by staff who evidently backpedaled their acceptance.
The model described the incident on her Instagram stories and called the guard a “jerk”.
“Unexpectedly, the jerk came to get me, told me that I had to leave [and] dragged me out of the bar,” she said.
She said she was so surprised that she neglected to object at the time while he “loudly critcised [her] choice of outfit”.
Erika also says that while she saw nothing wrong with the outfit, if they had simply told her she would have been happy to pop into a shop and grab a piece to fit the “dress code” of the bar.
“In my opinion, it is contradictory to even take a customer in if the outfit is not suitable. It’s a little sad that your own body is inherently obscene and provokes reactions. I’m sad that we’ve been a customer for years but this left [feeling] me really bad,” she said.
Erika added, “Maybe I’m too used to the dressing culture of my other home country – [it’s] much more relaxed there.”
She says she called the manager into the conversation after she felt disrespected. She said that she hoped staff could learn “how to act in similar situations so no one is removed unnecessarily.”
The comments were a bit divided. Some people thought the outfit was, indeed, inappropriate for a restaurant. Others, however, said that her outfit doesn’t define her and she was owed proper respect regardless.
