‘I’m Literally About To Quit’ — Starbucks Barista In Tears After Working A Normal 8 Hour Shift

Nobody likes to work long shifts. And this Starbucks barista was at his wit’s end after being scheduled to work an 8-hour shift.

In a video shared by right-wing former Trump official Sebastian Gorka, the employee complains about his schedule and Starbucks management.

“I’m literally about to quit,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m going to do it, but like, I really want to. I almost walked out today. And I’m crying in the back room, and I almost cried on the floor.”

He added: “I’m a full-time student. I get scheduled for 25 hours a week, and on weekends they schedule me the entire day — open to close. I’m on the schedule for eight-and-a-half hours, both Saturday and Sunday.”

The clip went viral, having been seen more than 11 million times. And comments were divided over whether or not the worker was complaining too much.

Some on Twitter definitely felt like that was the case.

Others sided with the worker and said, leave him alone.

Regardless of how you feel, it’s a fact that Starbucks workers are getting more organized these days.

Just this month, workers at more than 100 U.S. Starbucks went on strike as part of a campaign to unionize stores.

Barista Tzvi Ortiz told PBS News Hour that their Starbucks in Philadelphia has been understaffed, making life harder for employees.

“It’s just not viable. It’s very stressful,” Ortiz said. “And a lot of people don’t really notice, like, the humans behind this assembly.”

Starbucks said in a statement that “We remain committed to all partners and will continue to work together, side-by-side, to make Starbucks a company that works for everyone.”
