So you may have heard about the whole disaster involving Balenciaga over the last week.
If not, we’ll catch you up to speed. The French luxury brand received massive backlash after an advertising campaign featured two children posing with bears wearing BDSM-style harnesses.
It also showed court documents that mentioned “virtual child porn.”
It was a disaster and the brand rightfully got a ton of outrage for the campaign. The company apologized and now there are all sorts of lawsuits involved.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian, one of the brand’s biggest faces, tweeted a statement in response to the campaign saying she was “disgusted” and “outraged.”
But her apology rang hollow to some, especially because Kardashian didn’t commit to cutting ties with Balenciaga and she even praised them for apologizing.
Enter Kim’s sister, Kylie Jenner. While the controversy swirled, Jenner out of nowhere posted never-before-seen photos of her 9-month-old son on Instagram.
Seems innocent enough. But why did she release the photos now? It was strange, considering that she’s never released photos of her son before.
The odd timing led some to speculate that Jenner was trying to shift the headlines away from a scandal involving her sister.
A TikToker (@psychadvice) also called out Jenner for using her son as a distraction. In the video, she alleged that Kris Jenner was “telling her kids to release the good photos after the Balenciaga scandal.”
Here’s the video in question:
And that was apparently too much for Jenner, who responded personally in the comment section of the video.
Commenters were mixed on whether Jenner was purposefully trying to get the spotlight off her sister.
So yeah, it’s still a mess and it seems like, no matter what happens now, some people aren’t gonna like it.
