Woman Gets Next-Level Salty Texts From Dude She Went On A Tinder Date With Six Months Ago

Dating can be so difficult—you certainly didn’t need me to tell you that but I did anyway. Sometimes you go out with someone, have a marvelous time, and never hear from that person again, even if you reach out to them.

Sometimes you can have a terrible time and yet the person really wants to stay in contact and, God forbid, do it again. And sometimes, in really odd circumstances, you can get a message from someone you went on a date with 6 months ago who just hasn’t let it go.

A woman named Amy Bottrill (@bottrill on Twitter) received a message from a guy she’d gone on a date with back in October who was carrying a grudge because Bottrill didn’t contact him after their date. Not that she ghosted him—he didn’t contact her, either, so it all seemed fine. But apparently, on his end, it wasn’t. Prepare for some cringe-inducing texts.

Bottrill included screenshots of their text convo in a tweet that went viral. In the tweet, she wrote, “I regret to inform you that I have just been roasted to within an inch of my life by this man who bought me one meal in October 2018 and has apparently been seething ever since.”

In the first screengrab, you can clearly see it’s been almost six months since they lasted messaged each other. Out of completely nowhere, the dude writes, “Do you know how disrespectful it is to have someone take you out on a date, pay for everything, drop you home, then to never call or text person back.”

Bottrill responded, “Have you really been holding that grudge for nearly 6 months?” and the guy wrote, “Nope. Life is too short for grudges darling.. However, don’t let that stop any reconciling you may have beenconsidering.”

Ugh, my skin is crawling just reading that! This man is the human embodiment of the word “entitled.”

Bottrill wrote, “I don’t get what this is about but I wasn’t disrespectful in any way, if you wanted to see me again you could have said… but that didn’t happen and I assumed we both didn’t feel much chemistry so I kept it moving.”

That seems like a reasonable, clear explanation, but mister just kept on going, writing, “Youve got making up to do Amy.” Seriously??

To that statement, Bottrill responded with a decisive, “I’m good!” before the man quickly took a break and asked her how she was. Then he was back to it, writing, “Babe. Blow the dust off my number. And be nice to me. It took alot for me to reach out to you after the way you behaved so you should be making much more of an effort right now.”

Good gravy, he really thinks he’s something, doesn’t he? He expects Bottrill to be falling all over herself kissing up to him when she’s done absolutely nothing wrong and clearly they were just not right for each other.

Bottrill was open and forthright, writing, “I’m not interested.” When the guy pressed her for details about how come, she wrote, “Because we had 1 fairly awkward date and you didn’t seem to fancy me or want to see me again, now it’s nearly 6 months later and you think the way to get my interest/attention is by being hostile and entitled and calling me disrespectful? Nah I’m good thanks.”

But the guy couldn’t leave it at that, and wrote, “To be honest you came on our date dressed like you was attending a funeral, of someone you didn’t like…quite a contrast to the ways you were dressed in the sexually arousing pictures you were delighting me with prior. Then afterour date i never hear from you again.”

To be completely fair, that is one of the best descriptions of personal style I’ve ever heard. And Bottrill agreed enthusiastically, following up her initial tweet with another one reading, “‘dressed like you was attending a funeral of someone you didn’t like’ is a devastatingly accurate description of my personal style; I wore a low cut black dress that had functioning poppers all the way down and 4 inch heels.”

Other people on Twitter also loved the idea of this look.

One person couldn’t help but wonder if Bottrill somehow went on a date with a Pride and Prejudice character.

But mostly, people just jumped on to tear the guy to bits for his smug messages.

One person shared her experience with another entirely deluded man.

And at least one woman responded to Bottrill to say that while the man’s messages were inappropriate, she still could have been nicer. Um. WHAT.

Amy included a picture of a text thanking the man back in October…

…But also wrote that she was really angry that someone was acting like she owed this man anything at all.

And one 55-year-old guy did step in to say (not that she needed his approval) that Bottrill had done exactly nothing wrong.

So remember, people: if someone you went on one date with half a year ago contacts you to say they’re mad about how the date went, they are definitely Not Holding A Grudge, because life is too short for that.
