People on Twitter are reacting to Joe Biden’s call for raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour as part of his relief bill.
It seems like every election cycle minimum wage is used as a talking point by politicians but it seems clearer than ever that something has to be done. The last time the federal minimum wage was increased was in July of 2009, when it rose from $6.55 to $7.25 an hour. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, two-thirds of Americans support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, including 41% who say they strongly favor such an increase.
As with any major proposal, it’s followed by a polarizing debate, and these days it all happens on Twitter.
