Move aside, The Dress. There’s a new optical illusion that’s driving people nuts online.
On July 2, Twitter user @nxyxm posted an optical illusion that appears to be a beach, but is actually something much more mundane. He posted a photo of his broken car door, but the tweet racked up numerous likes and replies thanks to people claiming they only saw a nighttime beach landscape in the photo. @nxyxm wrote in his tweet:
if you can see a beach, ocean sky, rocks and stars then you are an artist, But its not a painting its lower part of the car gate which needs to be repaired.
You can check out the optical illusion tweet yourself and figure out what you see:

In 2015, the internet lost its collective mind when people couldn’t agree whether a dress was blue and black or white and gold. A very similar debate has sparked over the beach/car door photo.
Some folks on Twitter are having an easy time spotting the car door.
@Brian97333936 tweeted: “I see it, Its actually a picture of dark colored door looking down through the reflection to the ground. The bottom door edge is damaged. I would’nt say it’s cracked though, that is kind of misleading.”

And others chimed in to help explain how to see the car:
It’s a car door , the seal panel under it is damaged, the bend in the door gives illusion of beach , the seal panel is damaged and scratched which gives illusion of water on the edge of beach,

But most people must be pretty artistic since most people just see a beach in the photo.
Either I’m very artistic to see the beach and sky or whoever took this picture has a very good aesthetic sense cause this picture is not ordinary! 😄

I saw a beach and you ruined it for me.
thanks for nothin’— Angela Maples (@Sea_2Lake) July 7, 2019
I saw beach. Then, after about 10 mins of staring I thought the pic was looking down on a tinfoil wrapped dish on the ground, maybe at a picnic. But I still mostly see beach.

And then there are people who added their own embellishments to the photo.

What do you see? Perhaps there’s a third image hidden in the illusion.
