Twitter Is Sharing Dystopian Job Applications They’ve Come Across

Twitter user @hollabekgrl shared their experience applying to jobs online, which often uses personality questionnaires to find the most qualified candidates for the position. However, these quizzes can look more like a dystopian job application nightmare and are sometimes confusing with questions that don’t seem to have a real “correct” answer. It’s hard to tell what these employers are even looking for, but it seems like they all really just want robot employees. I assume these places make new hires sign paperwork vowing to die for the company in exchange for decent healthcare.

The questions make the applicant choose between questions like “would you rather work a 12-hour shift or take the day off?” Of course everyone would rather take a day off work, but these questions allude to a working environment that does not respect their employee’s personal time or choices. Many of the questions didn’t seem to have the right answer at all.

Here are some other questions those companies could use instead:

  1. Do you enjoy having free will or do you want to make a decent amount of money?
  2. Are you comfortable sacrificing your personal relationships and free time in order to increase stockholder equity?
  3. Will you sacrifice your entire physical and mental health for the sake of this CVS?
  4. Do you plan to keep your current religious alliances or do you accept the CEO as the sole divine being?

The most frustrating part is that these companies can treat their employees poorly because they need the money so badly. People are lining up for their chance at a job that exploits their labor. It’s nice to see people seeing this and make an effort to stop labor exploitation.
