Americans have some pretty strong feelings about the states that make up the United States. So, when a Twitter user proposed a state-centric challenge, people loved it.
Twitter user Adam Kotosko posted an image of the United States, and in 12 words, triggered hundreds of new visions for a breakaway nation.
The challenge?
You can only choose four contiguous state for your new breakaway nation.
“Contiguous,” meaning touching or sharing a border.
Before choosing your new nation, there are many things to consider. Geography, for example. How is the land for growing? Does it have decent water access? There is also culture to consider. Do you like the cuisine? The common cultural ideas shared in the region? It’s a tough question.
As you scan through Twitter, the responses are incredibly diverse. There are no four contiguous states that are the clear winner. As you’d expect, many people were biased based on which states they lived. A few chose based on geography, while others made some clever observations.
