The truth about Twitter is that often we’re all making the same point. Usually, that means we’re rewording a political opinion for our own little echo chambers for the likes and retweets.
There are times, however, when we all latch on to the same joke format, and ironically come up with insane ideas based on one sincere tweet.
I’m not sure where the “you’re in her DMs… I’m _____. We are not the same” meme started, but I see where it’s ended and I love it.
My best guess is that someone tweeted something sincere about their main squeeze. They wanted to brag that they actually know someone, and they’re not merely flirting on the internet:
Then, as all sincere ideas on Twitter go, people started to create snarky versions of the same sentiment. Eventually, things got weird. I love it.
