The year 2020 is coming to a close, and if you’ve managed to get through it without having your body and mind ravaged by terrible news, isolated quarantine, and an unending pandemic, well, you still have the election to get through in a couple of weeks. It’s not too late to lose your mind, especially since so many other people already have.
The “this can’t be the same brain” meme doesn’t necessarily just apply to the events of the last year. It could be about getting older and no longer having the mental bandwidth to remember stuff, do math, engage with complicated ideas, or feel remotely good about anything. But I really think it’s about what happens to your brain when everything in life gets upended. It all turns to soup and there’s just another day to get through. This is a 2020 meme if ever I’ve seen one.
