For 9 years, TikToker and Tech CEO Theresa Sue Mubenga has been in the corporate world
She recently revealed what signs to look out for that will tell you you’re about to be fired to help you prepare for receiving the news
Here’s what she said:
I’m going to give you guys the juice on how to know that you’re about to get fired. And this is coming from someone who’s been in corporate for 9 years, I now own my own tech company.
So I’m gonna give you a little tea on how you know. Okay, one, your boss is going to ask you to start documenting the stuff that you’re currently working on, right? So they’re probably going to use the “hey, can you upload what you’re working on or log what you’re working on?”
You start noticing that you’re left off of emails or left out of meetings or like, people are acting sly towards you, you understand the energy shifts.
Then, the number one tell-all is as soon as they put you on a PIP, just know they’re trying to get rid of you. Don’t even try to save your soul. They are trying to get rid of you. A PIP is to get rid of people. I don’t care what anybody says. And I’ve fired people.
The PIP is the way to go, legally. I don’t mean to fire people, but sometimes it has to happen and that’s what you have to do. And then your boss, you can tell, they give you the cold shoulder. They don’t really talk as much, you know, stuff like
that.

If you’re in the corporate world, it is important to know what a PIP is. A PIP is a Performance Improvement Plan, also known as “if you f**k up, this is how we’re gonna catch you weekly”.
So I always tell people you’re not gonna survive the PIP. Even if you survive the PIP, you’re cursed with the company, so you might as well leave. It is not something that you should tread lightly with.
You should start looking the moment your company mentions a PIP because they want to get rid of you somehow and they will find a way. And if that’s pushing you out and you survive the PIP, they will try to do that.
