College Students Share Chaotic 2020 Emails From Professors After This Guy’s Went Viral (12 Pics)

These are strange times we are living in, but I think they’re much stranger for some people than others. A professor named Patrick Wilson has gone viral on Twitter after one of his students, posting under the handle @decentbirthday, shared a screenshot of an email he sent to the class after being unable to attend the scheduled exam.

“Just received this rollercoaster of an email from one of my professors,” the Twitter user captioned it.

“Unfortunately, I have to reschedule the exam, and I will have to cancel class on Thursday,” he writes. “Against my best wishes, I have been shot and am being treated in the ER. I also have COVID, and the divorce is getting messy.”

He then shares that his office hours remain the same, though the TA will be covering them, naturally.  “If I am alive,” he  concludes, “the exam will be moved to Monday of next week.”

The screenshot went viral. So viral, Professor Wilson heard about it and sent a follow up reading, “Hello all, It seems that my last email went viral on the Internet. I appreciate all the replies letting me know. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t serious, and none of my Covid symptoms are serious. The exam is still Monday, and it is asynchronous. Unlike my wife, I expect you not to cheat. Good luck to all!”

Fantastic. The emails were a huge hit, but these types of weird missives during pandemic times are not that rare. Few can compete with being shot, contracting COVID-19, and revealing your divorce is perhaps related to at least one of these issues. There are still a lot of contenders for weirdest professor emails. Here are some of the best:
