Hollywood romances are usually gossip fodder, not relationship goals. It’s rare to see two people stick together in that world. My theory is that everyone is too sexy and it’s hard to focus. But there are a few couples who have stuck it out for years.
One of those couples is Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. While they’re technically not married, they have been together close to forty years and they’re absolutely adorable.
A new article about their long love affair appeared in People recently, and it’s exactly the kind of wholesome, hopeful tale we all need.
“I love the things that happen in our life and whatever part of it that I am, I’m happy for…” Russell starts the interview.
Hawn interrupts to say, “So far I’m not in this story.”
“Hang on, it’s coming. Wait for it,” Russell says. “The way she is when she’s happy is irresistible. I like that. That’s what I love most about Goldie.”
They definitely seem like they’re having a lot of fun.
Hawn also says she loves that her partner “laughs big” and loves to “play.” She says he’s not a “womanizer” and doesn’t “pretend to be cool.”
“He’s really, really smart. I like that when he puts his mind to something, it can be a little obsessive-compulsive, but at the same time, he gets it right,” she adds. “I think he’s one of the great actors of all time. And he’s a fantastic father. So I win because I can think exactly what I love about him.”
Russell answers, “I like it when she wins.”
Guys. You’re killing me. Will love never come???
The two then get into all the regular couple stuff that comes up again and again in a long term relationship, like how you like your morning coffee or arguing about a night light before bed. It’s adorable and very painful to read after nine months of lockdown.
The interview isn’t just to make us all feel jealous of this lovely couple, it’s to promote their roles as Santa and Mrs. Claus in Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two. Dang, will I understand it if I haven’t seen Part One?
It worked. I might actually tune in to see the chemistry here and take some notes. My Goldie Hawn is out there somewhere!
