While many celebrities have spoken out about the negative effects of Photoshop in magazines or in photos, conversations about Photoshopped social media have been slower to take hold. There are a number of Instagram accounts that post side-by-side photos of celebrities, showcasing the original photograph and how the celebrity edited themselves to look. But what do you do about someone else on Instagram photoshopping you into their idea of someone more beautiful?
Writer Iva Dixit posted on Twitter about a trend on Instagram in which regular people post picture after picture of edited celebrity faces.
“There’s this trend among ~aesthetic~ IG accounts of taking old pictures of female movie stars and running them through the face alteration apps to give the (already very strikingly beautiful women) generic Instagram Faces (thick lips, ski-slope nose, teeth white as toilet bowls),” she wrote.
The familiar faces are all almost recognizable, but I think a bunch of these are of Julia Roberts??
It’s pretty depressing that some of the most beautiful women in the world aren’t considered perfect enough by today’s standards. Because today’s standards are totally based in non-reality!

Insider looked for more examples, and shared a bunch from @goddess.woman, which is also obsessed with Julia Roberts:
But she might actually be the perfect example of what’s so messed up about this trend: Roberts was famous for being beautiful in a completely unique and recognizable way. Trying to make everyone look exactly the same isn’t beautiful, it’s creepy.
