Satan Falls In Love With 2020 In Ryan Reynolds’ Latest Viral Ad

Listen, Satan deserves love too. It’s a lot of work overseeing Hell.

Match.com recognized that and knew the perfect pairing for the dark lord: 2020. Yes, the entire year.

In a recent ad, the dating website paired with Maximum Effort, a content company founded by actor Ryan Reynolds, who had viral success with Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile — two other companies Reynolds has his hand in.

On Dec. 2, Reynolds introduced the world to his latest creation: a love story between Satan and 2020.

The ad starts out 11 months ago, with Satan sitting on his fiery throne.

He gets a notification on his phone that he matched with someone and meets up with them on a rainy day.

It’s 2020, the match of his dreams.

In the video, 2020 asks where Satan is from. He says “Hell” and she responds with “Me too.”

The ad then launches into a montage set to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” showcasing different scenes where Satan and 2020 are falling in love. They share snacks.

Go to the movies.

She even tries to get him to go to church.

The ad ends with Satan saying “I just don’t want this year to end” and 2020 responding with “Who would?”

Reynolds also posted a follow-up “interview” with the couple:

A big surprise, though, is that Reynolds got his buddy Swift to lend him a rerecorded track. Currently, Swift is rerecording her entire catalog after she was locked out of her original recordings by Scooter Braun.

Swifties were having their own celebrations over the glimpse they got of her rerecorded work.
