The Rock Jokes That He’s Not Conceding His “Sexiest Man Alive” Title To Michael B. Jordan

Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan might be People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2020, but one former title-holder is not letting go.

In a humorous Instagram post mocking Donald Trump’s refusal to concede the U.S. Presidential election, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson told Jordan that he also was refusing to give up his position as “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Johnson, who won the title in 2016, posted a picture of himself in the latest issue and said that he had “fun talkin’ about ‘living each day to the fullest’ in @peoples SEXIEST MAN ALIVE issue. Congrats to my brother @michaelbjordan on the new sexy crown.”

Then he posted, “I CONCEDE NOTHING” with a winky face emoji, showing he was making fun of the whole situation.

When asked about why Jordan was chosen to be 2020’s Sexiest Man Alive, People magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Dan Wakeford explained that there were many reasons, including Jordan’s inclusive production company Outlier Society Productions.

“He’s a man for the ages, right?” Wakeford told CNN. “Every year we look at what is the spirit of the year? What does the zeitgeist want at the moment? After a difficult year, we wanted to find somebody who provides that balance of escapism and comfort and inspiration. And we really felt that Mike did that. It doesn’t hurt that he’s extremely hot as well.”

“It was a universal choice. We were talking about what the world wants right now and what the world needs right now. I think people are leaning into a kindness after having a difficult year and looking at somebody who is a force for good. And I think Mike is that,” Wakeford added.

“He’s done lots of good things. He’s put his money where his mouth is related to Black Lives Matter. His production company has led the charge to provide more career opportunities for people in color in Hollywood. He also believes in strong women and empowering women, which is fantastic. And so he does a lot of good.”
