There are a lot of horror movie tropes we’re all familiar with, like jump scares, creepy dolls, and people who go where they shouldn’t.
But we don’t talk enough about one of the big victims of supernatural beings: horny dudes.
Writer Juliet Bennet Rylah started this convo on Twitter, going viral after observing how these guys keep falling for the same old trick.
“Men in horror movies are always like wow, a sexy lady just emerged from the woods/bog/cave/lake etc. and wants to kiss me?” she tweeted. “Nothing suspicious about this!”
Rylah was inspired to comment on this after seeing the trope back to back, first in a comic book and then in a movie:
This woman just emerged from this lake, slowly rising from the crown of her head. She said nothing. No explanation for why she’s there or, more importantly, why there is A MEADOW WITH A LAKE inside AN ESCAPE ROOM in A SMALL TOWN. This guy is just like, ‘cool.’ pic.twitter.com/7VaY0G51mO

Once she started, she couldn’t stop seeing it.
She started a long list of movies where a man gets seduced by a monster who’s gonna unalive him.
And most of them aren’t very subtle about it.
Does sex make men stupid? Or do supernatural beings just have amazing pheromones? It may not be a human being’s fault that a creature who eats souls knows how to turn them on. Seems like a prerequisite, actually.
But this does make a good watch list:

Species: Dude walks into his hotel room to find a woman there, who claims she stole the key to his room because she saw him in the lobby and thought he was hot. HE FINDS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS SCENARIO. SPOILER: HE DIES.
