“Because it is a gut wrenching tragedy, one of the saddest films I have ever seen, regardless of animation or genre. It tells of two Japanese children facing the aftermath of the fire bombing of Kobe near the end of WWII. I didn’t make the connection until just now, and there certainly is no actual connection, but to me as an American the film taught the same lesson as The War Prayer, by Mark Twain.” –silviazbitch
