At the end of every year, Spotify releases people’s Spotify Wrapped info, which includes their top played artists, songs, albums, and genres. Some of us might be aware of what we are listening as we do it, but based on the annual reactions, most people are not paying attention. Folks are shocked to find out their music taste is basic as hell or incredibly revealing or they’re absolutely obsessed with one artist to an unhealthy degree. So they run and tell everyone on Twitter about it.
It’s not fun to feel exposed, but it can be fun to expose yourself. This year, people came up with some hilarious memes to show all the ways their Spotify Wrapped lists revealed who they really are—or at least who they really are while living through one of the most apocalyptic years in recent American history. Pandemic listening isn’t the same as ordinary listening. if you had to replay the Ratatouille soundtrack over and over, I respect that. And you’re not alone:
