A Comedian Let People ‘Dress’ Her For The Emmys With A Green Screen And It Was Fashion

Sunday night was the Emmys, and celebrities really brought their best lewks to the red carpet and the many step-and-repeats set at strategic points throughout their walk. Half the reason to go is to be seen. The Internet wants to ogle every fashion choice and declare the winners and losers of the night.

Weirdly, this isn’t just something confined to celebrities—writers, producers, and anyone who has an invited agonizes over what they wear to the big night as well. Some get noticed by photographers and many don’t. One comedian has been making a game of it the last couple of years, much to everyone’s delight.

Last year, writer and comedian Emily Heller brought a purse to the Emmys that read “Getty Images.” It was kind of a joke about how every Getty image has a watermark across it. The purse was a real-life watermark, but according to Heller, it excluded her from getting lots of photos taken by other agencies, which is pretty funny:

This year, Heller raised the stakes by photographing herself in a greenscreen suit against a step-and-repeat that read “Emilys” instead of Emmys and invited people to dress her for the big night.

“HI EVERYONE,” she wrote. “I won’t have time to walk the press line at the #Emmys this year, so I’m leaving my red carpet look up to you. Would you like to say you dressed an awards show nominee?”

She shared high res links to the pics and let everyone go wild:

Dressing people for an awards show is a serious business and it takes a lot of money and an entire team of people to do it. Heller skipped all that, which is absolute genius. People loved it so much, her post quickly went viral. Everyone has an idea for what Heller should wear to the Emmys, and many of those ideas centered around food.

While most people used Photoshop as an opportunity to make a joke, some people actually brought their A+ styling game. It’s kind of sweet and refreshing to see what people genuinely think Heller should have worn, based on their own tastes:

But, ultimately, the really, really weird ones are my fav:

Give me that freaky stuff for the red carpet, or go in the nude.
