It’s one thing when a friend, relative, SO, or even a stranger calls you out on something. You get to respond to them, usually through tears or anger or a shameful giggle, whatever happens to be your MO.
But being called out by a sign is a totally different matter. It’s just words, after all! Words on a piece of fabric or paper or metal. All of this is to say, if you want to roast somebody, but don’t want to do it to their face, just ravage them with a rude sign.
