It feels petty to complain about petty things when there is so much real, horrible stuff going on in the world. That doesn’t stop the petty stuff from annoying you on a daily basis, so maybe it’s okay that there’s one guy doing the work of complaining about the price of salads and baristas writing your name wrong on coffee cups and too many concert clips on people’s IG stories. His name is Seth and he posts pictures of himself standing in the streets with handwritten funny protest signs covering all of the above and more under the Instagram handle @dudewithsign.
Seth’s bio reads, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Since we’re not trying to fall for anything, per Seth’s motto, it should be noted his bio also says “by @fuckjerry” which is an account famous for stealing ideas and working on the Fyre Festival, an unmitigated disaster that ruined people’s lives. Seth might be an innocent party in all that, but a lot of his signs do read like they were brainstormed in a room full of dudes who just slammed five Monster Energy drinks, then scrolled through a sorority sister’s Twitter account. Pretty basic, not as funny as they think.
Hey, obviously a lot of people love Seth’s messages, based on the comments and the suspiciously high number of followers he has for just 21 posts. Sorry to meet you with such incredulity, Seth, but if I had a funny protest sign to hold, it would say, “Let content go viral organically!”
