Stereotypes are bad. We shouldn’t assume anything about anyone or anyplace based on what we’ve heard or been told about them, because then you never learn the truth about who they really are. Unfortunately, the “Meanwhile in X” meme pretty much confirms that many of the stereotypes are true. In a funny way!
The meme is based around the classic narrator segue of “meanwhile in wherever” and then cutting to that place to show what’s going on. People have been sharing what’s going on all around the world, and it’s usually exactly what you’d expect and also, somehow, completely bizarre and surprising.
Looking through this list, I’ve had many of my ideas about places both confirmed and expanded.
Texas just IS a place where people ride their horses to get coffee at Starbucks. England just IS a place where a goose takes over a train station. Australia just IS a place where a giant spider stops people from going about their usual business.
It’s okay to say it. Especially when there’s hilarious photo evidence.
