It’s hard to figure out how to structure life during quarantine. Many folks are out of work, kids were sent home from college, and the usual rounds of social activities are completely over. People are so used to being busy that this sudden halt in activity is exacerbating the stress of an already stressful situation.
That’s probably why the well-meaning @plntbasedcutie shared their quarantine routine on Twitter, outlining a regimented schedule of learning, cleaning, and exercising that seems rigorous even during normal times:
My Quarantine Routine!
this is just a general guide for myself based on my goals & what works for me! i’m allowing a lot flexibility with myself & not pressuring myself to complete everything. this is just to give me structure & a sense of control & stability. pic.twitter.com/3EPJnQehxH

There were a lot of people inspired by this list of activities, but quite a number who were like, “No way, b*tch.”
As many folks replied, they were not in a mental state to do much of anything at all:
a lot of people are saying that their mental health is too bad to do this & i totally get it. I have major depressive disorder, I make/follow routines as a healthy coping mechanism. Keeping myself busy helps me from spiraling. It’s a process. Be easy on yourselves🤍

Others took it much farther and started parodying @plntbasedcutie’s daily to-do list with their own quarantine schedules. Most involved a lot more crying, self-pleasure, and staring in dread at their phones. Personally, I’m trying to strike a balance. In the morning I work and in the afternoon I cry.
