As someone who was not born in America, I was pretty surprised when I’d go over to friends’ houses and their mom didn’t immediately make us take our shoes off. In fact, nobody took their shoes off! At any point! Even on carpeting! Eating cold pizza I was less surprised by, as I’d been eating cold leftovers my entire life and most food tastes better cold, anyway.
