At first blush, there doesn’t seem to be much of a connection between memes and tattoos.
After all, memes are famously ephemeral while tattoos are famously permanent; it’s a brief flicker of entertainment during a boring day vs. a lifetime commitment to a statement or image.
And yet, with so much of our daily life transpiring online these days, memes have become increasingly prominent as a means of communication and form a shared modern lexicon of sorts.
As such it’s not that surprising that memes and tattoos have begun to merge like the frames of a blurry GIF. There are now tattoos featuring memes and memes about tattoos.
While we’re no strangers to clowning on terrible tattoos (or celebrating good ones) these colorful works of ink are more internet-centric than most.
