Artist Shows Disney Princesses The Way They’d Look As Real, Everyday Women (17 Pics)

The world of Disney characters is so vast because there is an enormously talented fan base of artists who love reimagine and re-design them for our entertainment. We got Emo Disney Characters, Mix-and-Match Disney Characters, Villains as Princesses, Disney in every other cartoon style around, and who knows what else.

And yet, artist Andhika Muskin has managed to show many of us Disney characters in a way we’d never imagine any of them: looking like awkward, regular people.

Like, who would get up on that magic carpet as easily as Jasmine does?

Sometimes Muskin shows characters in situations we know from the films, but with a more realistic take on what certain angles would actually look like on a human, or a mermaid:

Or just waking up to a bunch of animals trying to put you in a ball gown:

Or getting stuck out in the rain, holding the body of your beloved who is about to be transformed into a much less attractive prince:

But Muskin also shows Disney Characters doing stuff we do every day that doesn’t involve magic happily ever afters, like signing into Zoom with your hair looking a mess and having to watch people eat:

Or looking at yourself on FaceTime, wondering where you went wrong in life:

Muskin told Buzzfeed in an interview that he was inspired by what was going on in his own day-to-day.

“I was working late on a daily basis, sometimes until sunrise the next day,” he said. “So, I began incorporating all the real-life moments I was experiencing into my art in a fun, comedic way. It has become a personal way for me to cheer myself up and reconnect with my childhood.”

We all need a little cheering up, especially after that Zoom meeting. Muskin has almost 500,000 followers, so he’s clearly speaking to people.

“Even though my personal life inspired this series of artworks, the situations I’ve put these childhood icons in are things that happen to all of us,” he said.

Yes! and for the first time, I really think I look like a Disney Princess:

More Disney princesses if they were real:
