Company Offers Bounty For Snitches Who Catch Coworkers Eating On The Job

One of the strange things employers love to do is pit workers against one another.

Although a logical person might suggest having a team that works well together and trusts one another is actually key to running a successful business and retaining employees, management frequently prefers to reinforce loyalty to the company at the expense of everything else.

Signage getting a lot of attention over on Reddit is a prime example of that, and it paints a very clear picture of the turmoil created by workplaces that think this way.

A picture shared to r/antiwork shows a notice posted at an unidentified place of work that reads, “WARNING! All employees must not eat during work hours!”

“Receive a $20 reward if you catch an employee eating during work hours!” it continues. “Employees with 3 warnings will be laid off with no exceptions.”

Having a three-strikes rule against employees eating during work hours already seems wild enough — if your company is having that much of a problem with people eating on the job, it seems likely there’s a bigger issue going on.

But offering an actual bounty for snitches willing to rat out their coworkers is next level.
