Worker Finds Job Ad His Boss Took Out To Replace Him

Ugh, companies are cold.

Like, never once should you expect a company to treat you the way you would treat it; your job feels like your entire world sometimes, but to them? You’re just a replaceable cog in the machine.

Take u/oldbuddyoldfriendpal‘s recent story on the Antiwork subreddit. This poor soul found a job listing … for their job.

It is a small company, 3 employees. I’m the only one with my job title and the only one needed.

They explain that it’s a very small company and they’re the only one with this particular job title. The building isn’t even big enough for another person.

The building we work in isn’t even big enough for a 4th person. So yeah, he’s replacing me.

The boss has not told our OP, but the posting states he wants someone “in two weeks.” Which means OP is sitting on the edge of his or her seat waiting to get fired.

Hasn’t told me but his job posting said he’s looking to have someone new within 2 weeks. So he could have given me a 2 week notice but will probably just fire me.

Can you imagine heading into work every day knowing you’re probably going to get fired? Exhaustingly stressful!

All of this because I called him out on unethical medical practices. I was even nice about it and just expressed my concerns but he’s been short with me ever since and now this.

OP explains that the reason they expect to get fired is “unethical medical practices”, which honestly sounds pretty nebulous to me. What does that even mean?!

OP explains in some comments that the company is a small independent pharmacy that uses a payroll company to pull the taxed amount out of their paychecks. That amount then is supposed to go to taxes, but it seems like there are some serious tax issues in addition to whatever these “unethical medical practices” are.

OP isn’t the only one looking to bolt; his manager is also unhappy at this location.

Here’s what OP said in the comments about what the “unethical” practices are:

We are a pharmacy. Part of it is that if patient can’t afford medication we do everything we can to help.

So far so … good…

Owner has been upcharging by more than 100% and not allowing the employees to refer patients to programs or other pharmacies like income based pharmacies most don’t even know these exist and I was reprimanded for suggesting to a patient they use the income based pharmacy to get their blood thinners.

And here it is: the boss is not permitting income-based pharmacy referrals.

He also ships prescriptions to states he is not licensed in and makes compounded medications in batches and freezes them when they’re supposed to be made when requested since they don’t last long.

This guy is also shipping scripts to other states and freezing compound medications and selling THOSE. Hoo boy.

So between the TAX issues and all these MEDICAL problems, I have to wonder how the government hasn’t slammed down on this pharmacy.

Good luck getting out of there, OP!
