Pregnant Worker Calls Out Boss For Denying Her Maternity Leave Because She ‘Only’ Gave 2 Months’ Notice

So, I don’t know if you know this, but giving birth is A HUMAN BEING COMING OUT OF A SMALL HOLE IN YOUR BODY.

It’s not like a tooth filling or something where you bound back into work later that day.

I cannot believe the audacity of the employer in this post from u/Little_Rip_1193. They explain in the title that the person denying maternity leave is their “fiancé’s employer”.

It starts with OP’s finance sounding the alarm — she realized that she is on the schedule to work during her maternity leave.

The boss tells her that the leave was never approved because the request was on short notice, but OP’s fiancée says that she gave notice two months ago.

This response kills me. Her boss says “you’ve known you were pregnant for how long?”

So the badass woman in question says she’s on leave starting tomorrow and will talk to HR.

Boss tries to backpedal, but hopefully OP’s fiancé had them body slammed by HR and management.

Reddit was happy to cheer both of these people on. One person made a comment about how “You have to love the attempt to backpedal when they realize they might be on the hook for something.”

Another noted that, “Considering how much people lie through their teeth and how lazy management can get, I’m willing to bet the whole reason coverage “wasn’t found” was because they never bothered to get around to it and thought they could just cancel it for no reason, and now they’re screwed because they’re fucking idiots. And HR will be made aware of the situation they just created.”

There was also this perfect reply from another Redditor, “I don’t really give a shit how it will affect the team. That’s a management job.”

Hopefully these two new parents sorted this out and the boss was reprimanded!
