There’s been a lot of discussion about which person should pay for the date (or if you should split the bill).
But TikToker Monique Santos (@moniquesantos09) shared a video on the subject that’s pretty jaw-dropping: A man was late to his date, so the woman insisted that he pay for not only her meal but also buy her kids’ food, too. (Scroll to the end for the full video.)
The dispute started because the guy was an hour and a half late to their first date. Granted, that’s not cool. His bad.
To make nice, he agreed to pay for her meal, plus take her out again.
But that wasn’t good enough for the annoyed woman, who insisted that he buy meals for her young kids, too.
Then she proceeded to order steaks for her kids (on his tab).
“I want you to make sure that my kids eat, too, ” she said.
The dude wasn’t having it, though. He took matters into his own hands and went back to the kitchen, telling them to not put the order in.
“Don’t put that order in! Them ain’t my kids!” he said. “Give me my check. Just my check!”
On his way back to the table, he conducted an informal poll of other diners, asking if he should have to pay for her kids‘ meals, too.
One woman didn’t have any sympathy. “What’s wrong with that?” she asked him. “You were late!”
He was bummed at the lack of support. “Come on y’all, y’all ain’t on my side?”
Everyone laughed.
Commenters, though, definitely had his back. Lots of people felt like it was insane to insist your date must buy your kids food, too.
Anyway, there probably won’t be a second date between these too.
