TikTokker Libby Christensen’s video of her hack squatting was an instant hit, with almost 5 million views and over 600,000 likes.
But what made the clip even more noteworthy was the man sitting behind her on a bench, looking down.
“I just need to shout out this man who was behind me while I was hack squatting,” she wrote in the video’s overlay text. “I was so uncomfy that I was being stared down but very thankful that my booty was not his focus.”

Commenters on her video noted the lengths some men go to to ensure they don’t stare at other gym-goers and the uncomfortable feeling it causes.
“When I’m in this position at the gym I have to move in fear of the woman thinking I’m a creep,” @user3738789367919 wrote. “The uncomfortable feeling goes both ways.”
Others however commented that Christensen’s own outfit was to blame for her feeling of discomfort. @ashleymatteson5 argued that a woman’s outfit has nothing to do with how comfortable she feels when working out:
“I feel like some of y’all won’t be satisfied till females are wearing sweats & a turtle neck to the gym,” they said.
Others pointed out the subtle hypocrisy in that she was, even if just inadvertently, filming him.
And maybe this random user had the wisest take of all:
