The Internet loves a good customer service story and all the debate that comes with it. Most of the time the worker ends up winning the case, simply because they are forced to be there and dealing with entitled customers BS is something no one wants to put up with.
On the flip side, one of the most frustrating things ever is when you go to a specific restaurant only to find out they either closed early or aren’t taking any more guests.
But in a recent TikTok, a user by the name of (_danimar._) posted a clip of two Subway employees sitting and “chillin'” inside the store at 8:30 p.m., 30 minutes before closing time at 9:00 p.m.
The clip racked up over 400k views, and 1k comments debating the situation. Watch it: here!
Her caption on the video read “like i just wanted some broccoli soup!!” The text overlay in the video read, “i tried to go into subway and the door was locked….it was 8:30pm and they close at 9:00pm. i left n came back and home girls were just chillin and sittin???” above it was another overlay that noted the “open sign” was still turned on and glowing.
Viewers in the comment section had a few opinions to share regarding why the workers may have been sitting inside.
One commenter wrote, “they’re probably understaffed. some places close early when theres barely anyone to close,” with another commenter agreeing: “sometimes restaurants close early if they run outta items or lack of customers, my store would do that.”
“Lobby hours 95% of the time differ from store hours,” explained another. “You need time to clean it and get it over with. We’re open til 9 and close it at 7:30 you’ll live.”
As most know, customers rarely know the real explanation for seemingly simple problems behind the counter. There are plenty of reasons why this Subway outlet might have closed early, and while a few people sided with the original TikToker (“i love subway i’d be mad asf”) or straight-up criticized the Subway workers (“They just being lazy”), most people agreed there was probably a reasonable explanation for the store to close early.
Another comment made a valid point saying, “Y’all don’t understand the pain of subway workers.” Some people are too quick to judge blue collar workers, expecting them to move mountains for something like a foot long Italian herbs and cheese.
